Taxonomy
Calliostoma rhombotoide was named by Gardner (1947) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 498392, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 10603 - White's Creek [Shoal River Fm], which is in a Serravallian marine marl/sandstone in the Shoal River Formation of Florida.
