Crassatellites densus was named by Dall (1900) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 107382, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Crassatellites (Scambula) densus by Dall (1903), Anderson (1929) and Gardner (1947); it was recombined as Crassatella densus by Hendy et al. (2008).
