Capulus (Capulus) epicranum was named by Woodring (1928) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Pliocene; Jamaica.]. Its type specimen is USNM 369517, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Capulus epicranum by Hendy et al. (2008).
