Taxonomy
Actaeon chipolanus was named by Dall (1896) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 113860, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Acteon chipolanus by Gardner (1947) and Hendy et al. (2008).
