Taxonomy
Solenopsis nitida was named by Girty (1910). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Solen nitida by Elias (1957); it was recombined as Solenomorpha nitida by Driscoll (1965), Pojeta (1969), Hoare et al. (1989), Busanus and Hoare (1991) and Hoare (1993).

Hoare 1991Elongate, length/height ratio 3+/1; thin-shelled; dorsal and ventral margins subparallel; beaks low, about one-third of length from anterior margin; surface marked by fine, comarginal ridges, more prominent near anterior and ventral margins; narrow gape probably present.

Hoare 1993Solenomorpha with narrowly elongate, thin shell; dorsal and ventral margins subparallel; beaks low, located just posterior to anterior margin; posterior margin more narrowly convex than anterior margin; anterior gape present; surface ornamented with numerous fine, closely spaced comarginal lirae and growth lines.
