Taxonomy
Euomphalus rugosus was named by Hall (1858). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Straparollus (Euomphalus) rugosus by Meek (1871); it was replaced with Straparollus (Euomphalus) subrugosus by Meek and Worthen (1873); it was recombined as Euomphalus (Straparollus) rugosus by Walcott (1884).
