Naticina was named by Guilding (1834) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9834].

It was reranked as Sigaretus (Naticina) by Conrad (1863); it was reranked as Natica (Naticina) by Woods (1922) and Vredenburg (1928); it was synonymized subjectively with Polinices by Kabat (1991).

It was assigned to Sigaretus by Conrad (1863); and to Natica by Woods (1922) and Vredenburg (1928).
