Ilyanassa (Paranassa) isogramma was named by Dall (1892) [DISTRIBUTION: Early-Late Pliocene; Virginia-North Crolina.]. Its type specimen is USNM 124948, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Ilyanassa isogramma by Gardner (1943) and Hendy et al. (2008).
