Taxonomy
Stigmaulax was named by Morch (1852) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 548]. It is extant. Its type is Natica sulcata.

It was reranked as Natica (Stigmaulax) by Cossmann (1924), Gardner (1947) and Marincovich (1977).

It was assigned to Natica by Cossmann (1924), Gardner (1947) and Marincovich (1977); to Naticidae by Todd (2001); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Naticinae by Woodring (1928) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
