Hyphantozyga gracilis

Taxonomy
Hemizyga (Hyphantozyga) gracilis was named by Knight (1930). Its type specimen is YPM 13003, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is SL-1. Headwaters of Feefee Creek, north of Olive St. & west of Lindberg Blvd., 1.5 km northwest of Stratmann (Olivette), which is in a Moscovian offshore shale in the Appanoose Formation of Missouri. It is the type species of Hyphantozyga, Hemizyga (Hyphantozyga).

It was recombined as Plocezyga (Hyphantozyga) gracilis by Hoare and Sturgeon (1980); it was recombined as Ploceozyga (Hyphantozyga) gracilis by Pan and Erwin (2002); it was recombined as Hyphantozyga gracilis by Wagner (2023).
