Ceraunocochlis was named by Knight (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 777]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Subulitinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Soleniscidae by Bandel (2002); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Meekospiridae by Nützel et al. (2000) and Nützel and Ketwetsuriya (2016).
