It was assigned to Ganopristinae by Arambourg (1940); to Pristidae by Tabaste (1963), Jordan (1963), Thurmond (1971) and Chiplonkar and Ghare (1977); and to Sclerorhynchidae by Keyes (1977), Cappetta (1987), Werner (1989), Kriwet (1999), Cappetta and Case (1999), Cuny et al. (2004), Suárez and Cappetta (2004) and Shimada and Martin (2008).
