Taxonomy
Grallator maximus was named by Lapparent and Montenat (1967). It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is L'Anse de la République tracksite, F6, which is in a Rhaetian estuary/bay sandstone/claystone in France.
It was synonymized subjectively with Grallator minusculus by Demathieu (2003).
