Taxonomy
Turritella spolongensis was named by Martin (1916) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Java, Indonesia.]. Its type specimen is RGM 10916, RGM 47073, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turritella (Archimediella) spolongensis by Shuto (1974) and van den Hoek Ostende et al. (2002).
