Turritella javana was named by Martin (1882) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Java, Indonesia.]. Its type specimen is RGM 10834, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Zaria javana by Shuto (1974), van den Hoek Ostende et al. (2002) and Harzhauser et al. (2009).
