Charadreon was named by Woodring (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 551. NOTE: This is NOT a marine genus!]. Its type is Charadreon leptus.
It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); to Pseudomelaniidae by Woodring (1973) and Wesselingh et al. (2006); and to Pachychilidae by Wesselingh (2006).
