Chomataster alseni was named by Schulz and Weitschat (1971). It is not extant. Its type specimen is University of Hamburg, collection of W. Weitschat.
It was recombined as Nymphaster alseni by Gale (1987), Gale (1989), Breton (1992), Jagt (1999), Jagt (2000) and Jagt et al. (2021).
