Acila brevis was named by Nagao and Huzioka (1941) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Eocene; Japan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Acila (Acila) brevis by Kafanov and Ogasawara (2003) and Kafanov et al. (2005).
