Taxonomy
Orthisina crassa was named by Meek and Hayden (1858). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Derbya crassa by Girty (1915); it was recombined as Derbyia crassa by Tschernyschew (1902), Hoare (1961), Mudge et al. (1962) and Shintani (2011).
