Taxonomy
Metopaster albocervus was named by Gale (1987). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Natural History Museum, holotype BNHM E 54288, paratype BNHM 54287.

It was recombined as Parametopaster albocervus by Breton (1992) and Breton (1997).
