Cypraeogemmula was named by Vredenburg (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l]. Its type is Cypraea liliputana.

It was assigned to Cypraeidae by Durham (1944); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pediculariinae by Dolin and Ledon (2002), Pacaud (2003) and Groves and Squires (2023).

L. T. Groves and R. L. Squires 2023Minute, ovoid, with visible spire (= protoconch) with patterns of rhombs. Dorsal surface of teleoconch ornamented with granulated spiral ribs not representing prolongations of apertural crenulations. Aperture nearly straight, terminated at each end by small canal. (Vredenburg 1920).
