Oliva sayana was named by Ravenel (1834). It is extant.

It was recombined as Oliva (Oliva) sayana by Olsson (1967); it was recombined as Oliva (Ispidula) sayana by Olsson and Harbison (1953), DuBar (1958) and Hendy et al. (2008).

Synonyms
  • Oliva litterata was named by Lamarck (1811) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

    It was recombined as Strephona literata by Holmes (1860); it was synonymized subjectively with Oliva sayana by Hendy et al. (2008).
