Buccinum multirugatum was named by Conrad (1841) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; western Atlantic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Tritia multirugatum by Conrad (1863); it was recombined as Ptychosalpinx multirugatum by Martin (1904) and Gardner (1948).
