Taxonomy
Thovana was named by Gray (1847) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R]. It is extant. Its type is Pholas campechiensis.

It was reranked as Pholas (Thovana) by Glenn (1904) and Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).

It was assigned to Myoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pholas by Glenn (1904) and Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
