Doxander was named by Iredale (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-u-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 909]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Strombus (Doxander) by Iredale (1931) and Robba et al. (2007).

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); to Strombus by Iredale (1931) and Robba et al. (2007); and to Strombidae by Gofas (2016).
