Eratotrivia was named by Sacco (1894) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l T Ol-l Sepkoski's reference number: 121,909]. Its type is Cypraea crenata.

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eratoinae by Dolin and Pacaud (2009) and Groves and Squires (2023).

Squires 2023Shell small, ob-ovate; spire concealed; columella region attenuated; slight canal; aperture narrow; outer lip thickened, crenulated internally; surface ornamented by spiral ribs which anastomose in the thedorsal region; along the mid-dorsal line, the ribs areinterrupted more or less by a shallow groove.
