Taxonomy
Mithrax was named by Latreille (1817). It is extant. Its type is Mithrax pilosus. It is the type genus of Mithracinae.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Kiessling (2003); to Mithracidae by Luque et al. (2017); and to Mithracinae by Todd and Collins (2005), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2020).
