Dictyocoryne was named by Ehrenberg (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr R]. It is extant. Its type is Dictyocoryne profunda.

It was assigned to Spongodiscidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
