Taxonomy
Rapana gilletti was named by Richards (1943). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Silverdale Marl Quarry, which is in an Oligocene coastal sandstone in the Belgrade Formation of North Carolina.

It was recombined as Tritonopsis gilletti by Ward (1992).
