Bolivinella was named by Cushman (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R]. It is extant. It was considered unknown by Cushman (1927).

It was assigned to Bolivinellidae by Cushman (1927); to Bolivinitinae by Cushman (1927); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).

Cushman 1927Test much compressed, the proloculum in the megalospheric form rectangular, in the microspheric form the young is apparently planospiral, later chambers biserial, chambers long and recurved, not overlapping; wall calcareous, perforate; aperture transverse to the compression of the teft with numerous papillae at the base of the opening. This genus is most nearly related to Guembelino. and its allies. It occurs as far back as the Eocene and continues to the present ocean where it is found in the Indo-Pacific. Besides Bolioinella. folium (Parker and Jones) there are other species occurring both fossil and in the present ocean
