Hexaglauconia was named by Mennessier (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-l K Sant-u Sepkoski's reference number: 815]. Its type is Turritella coquandiana.

It was assigned to Cassiopidae by Cleevely and Morris (1988); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
