Taxonomy
Turritella clarki was named by Dickerson (1914) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene; California.]. Its type specimen is UCMP 11936, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 1540, Stewartville, which is in a Selandian marine sandstone in California.
It was recombined as Mesalia clarki by Merriam (1941) and Squires and Saul (2007).
