Taxonomy
Holophagus gulo was named by Egerton (1861). Its type specimen is GSM 28832, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lyme Regis (Harrison collection), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Undina gulo by Woodward (1891).
