It was Gyrodes (Hypterita) by Popenoe et al. (1987) and Kosnik (2002); it was reranked as Hypterita by Sepkoski (2002); it was Polinices (Hypterita) by Marincovich (1977) and Kosnik (2002).

It was assigned to Neverita by Woodring (1957) and Todd (2001); to Gyrodes by Popenoe et al. (1987) and Kosnik (2002); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Polinices by Marincovich (1977) and Kosnik (2002).
