Henophidia was named as an infraorder.

It was synonymized subjectively with Booidea by Kuhn (1966); it was reranked as the unranked clade Henophidia by Vidal and Hedges (2002).

It was assigned to Serpentes by Carroll (1988); to Alethinophidia by Vidal and Hedges (2002); and to Serpentes by Rage et al. (2008).
