E. Perrier 1928Corps court et rigide; un os coronoïde; pas de squamosal. Des dents petites et peu nombreuses, en général seulement sur la mandibule et le maxillaire supérieur; yeux très petits, à pupille ronde: tête sans cou distinct; écailles ventrales plus grandes que les dorsales. Queue très courte, souvent tronquée obliquement; elle se termine par une grande plaque différenciée ou par de petites écailles carénées. Très vivement colorés ou irisés. Fouisseurs. Vivipares.
