Stratigraphy
Formation:Wellington
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: The Elmo limestone itself is a chalky, soft, almost white deposit, about five feet thick; only the very bottom, more massive layer of this stratum contains insects.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: lithified "limestone"
Environment:pond Tectonic setting:cratonic basin
Geology comments: Presence of Myalinella may suggest brackish-marine conditions, but stratigraphic position and presence of conchostracans and freshwater ostracods suggest a lacustrine/pond setting.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:mold/impression
Size of fossils:macrofossils,mesofossils
