Stratigraphy
Geological group:Santana Formation:Romualdo
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: The Romualdo Member of the Santana Formation lies between the Crato Member of the Santana Formation (below) and the Exu Formation, which overlies the Santana Formation. Both of the latter horizons are most likely Albian in age. This suggests an Albian age (early Cretaceous, ± 110 mya) for the Romualdo Member of the Santana Formation and for Araripemys (Maisey, 1990, 1991).
From Melo et al. 2020: In summary, this integrated study of foraminifera, ostracodes and other microfossil data from the Romualdo Formation indicates that the local Alagoas Stage (Ostracoda Zone RT-011) can now be constrained to the Aptian. Arai and Assine 2020 also support that the Romualdo Formation is entirely Aptian in age.
