Lithology description: Aproximately 25 feet of gray clays overlying concretionary sandstones which rest on the conglomerates so conspicuously exposed in the middle of the Villaviaja - Cerro Gordo section. This unit varies somewhat and in places grades laterally into sandstone, but is predominantely clay. Fossils recorded from the Monkey locality were found in the clay.
