Stratigraphy
Formation:Birstonas and Paprieniai
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: Jonava beds of the Birstonas Formation and Vilkija beds of the Paprieniai Formation.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:gray,green marl
Secondary lithology:concretionary "limestone"
Lithology description: "Widespread in greenish-gray marls with microcrystalline limestone interbeds of the fourth facies zone, and in greenish-gray marls with limestone nodules and wavy bedded interbeds of the thrid facies zone (Nestor & Einasto 1977). The articulation data indicate a normal level of turbulence consistent with normal oxygen level...The occurrence of I. amplificata in more carbonate-rich (shallwer)_ rocks than I. clivosa...allows us to assert that this community was distributed inshore from the S.lewisii-I.clivosa Comm. at the BA 3-4 boundary, but not really far into BA 3."
Environment:marine indet.
Taphonomy
Collection methods and comments
Reason for describing collection:paleoecologic analysis
Collection method comments: I have lumped two separate levels in the borehole and have omitted the absolute and relative abundance data supplied. It is not possible to discern from the information given which borehole level corresponds with Jonava beds and which with Vilkija beds.
