Lithology description: "massive units of cliff forming graywacke-type sandstone and pebble-cobble conglomerate, thin-bedded, poorly consolidated shale, and massive siltstone." "An important feature of the Bowser are the numerous coquina beds in the calcareous light-gray sandstone. Ihe beds are 1-3 feet thick and are similar to the ones in the Gaikema and Red Glacier Formations. These beds appear to be confined to the coarser clastic parts of the formation on Iniskin Peninsula; they were not seen north of Chinitna Bay, where the beds contain abundant ammonite-bearing concretions. The coquina beds are composed almost entirely of the pelecypods Inoceramus and Trigonia."
