Stratigraphic resolution:formation
Stratigraphy comments: Probably near the transition between Sheinwoodian and Homerian.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: mudstone
Secondary lithology: "limestone"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: "This fauna is found in dark mudstones interbedded with shales and limestones."
Environment:marine indet.
Geology comments: "Generally the succession shows rapid fluctuation between intertidal and very shallow subtidal. Mudflake conglomerates, desiccation crakcs and algal laminated dolomitic limestones are common immediately below and also above, and hypersaline conditions are interpreted. The part with this community is, however, interpreted as very shallow subtidal, normal marine to brackish water. A BA 1 assignment is reasonable."
Taphonomy
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:some macrofossils
Reason for describing collection:paleoecologic analysis
Collection method comments: In addition to the material from this locality, I have included two genera (Pterygotus and Nanahughmilleria) "found in the same formation with a marine fauna at a slightly younger position within the same formation 200 m south alonge the E68 road."
Taxonomic list comments:Not all higher taxa listed at genus level.
