Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | black siltstone |
Environment: | deep subtidal indet. |
Geology comments: black siltstones intercalated with thin beds of siltstone. The Coroico Formation crops out primarily in the core of broad anticlinal structures and comprises mainly black siltstones. The base of the sequence is not exposed. The lower most strata are fine brownish sandstones with horizontal lamination that grade upward into carbonaceous siltstones and fine gained sandstones. The unit coarsens upward and grades into the more sand-rich Amutara Formation. Shelly fossils are rare and are principally the trilobites |
