Stratigraphy comments: In this locality, the river bank shows an over 20 Metter deep set of layers of so-called Zaraza Series, a sandstone and marl complex of approximately 300 meters thickness, which is the youngest unit of the Tertiary around.

Note: Stehlin (1928) used the term "Zaraza Series" to designate the fossiliferous sandstones near the village of the same name. Kamen-Kaye (1942) mentioned the Zaraza Group. The layers are currently included into the Chaguaramas Formation.
