Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Castilletes Formation, which conformably overlies the Jimol Formation (early Miocene) and is unconformably overlain by the Ware Formation. AGE: Langhian, on the basis of macrofaunal composition and stratigraphic position; direct age established by extrapolation of Sr-isotope dating by enterer. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Likely in upper part of the Castilletes Fm; from 319 m above Jimol/Castilletes contact.
Lithology and environment

Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Unconsolidated shell bed, sandy matrix. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified, as determined in the field and based on museum-reposited specimens.
Environment:lagoonal
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine (0-15 m), siliciclastic, probably normal salinity.
