Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:gray calcareous "shale"
Secondary lithology:gray "limestone"
Lithology description: Unit 38 is a sequence of interbedded thin gray limestone ledges and calcareous shale beds about 1.9 m thick, and it is overlain by a more massive gray limestone with minor shaly limestone beds about 1.2 m thick (unit 39). Unit 40 is a thin (0.5 m) shaly unit with some calcareous intervals (unit 40) overlies the thick limestone ledge that comprises unit 39
Environment:carbonate indet.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Collection methods and comments
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Museum repositories:UNM
Taxonomic list comments:For some reason, Kues lumps units 38 & 39 for brachiopods & gastropods with unit 40 separate, but he then lumps units 39 & 40 for bivalves. So, I've lumped all three.
