Stratigraphy
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: The ammonites collected by the author were examined by Dr. M. K. Howarth of the British Museum (Natural History). He identified Coroniceras cf. C. rotiforme (J. de C. Sowerby) and Phylloceras alontinum (Gemmellaro), both indicative of the C. bucklandi zone, from the east side of the valley, and Eoderoceras cf. E. armatum (J. Sowerby), indicative of the raricostatum zone from the west side. Several of the brachiopod species, however, were found on
both sides of the valley, and it seems probable that they came from the same highly condensed succession of the Lower and Middle Lias.
