Primary lithology: poorly lithified "volcaniclastic"

Lithology description: These localities are characterized by outcrops of Tertiary to Quaternary volcanic and volcano− sedimentary rocks (INEGI 1992). The latter include un− named Quaternary fluvio−lacustrine deposits consisting of poorly to moderately consolidated clays and silts, which are irregularly intercalated with volcanic gravels of andesitic to mafic composition (Bravo−Cuevas 2002). The fossil material was recovered from these deposits (Fig. 2).
