Stratigraphy comments: In this section, the fossils are derived from the Bjork siltstone beds (unit 8 of Evanoff et al. 2010:fig. 3; also see Evanoff et al. 2010 suppl.:fig 11b; Fig. 1). The age of the rocks and fauna are interpreted as early Whitneyan (middle Oligocene). The specimens were recovered from the lower part of the Poleslide Member, which contains a typical Whitneyan Fauna (as defined by Prothero and Emry 2004), and conformably overlies the Orellan Scenic Member of the Brule Formation (Evanoff et al. 2010). |
