Key time interval:Late/Upper Campanian
Age range of interval:83.60000 - 72.10000 m.y. ago
Stratigraphy
Formation:Parras
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: Apparently the Saucedas assemblage, even though collected in a condensed sediment unit of <20 m thickness, covers three to four upper Campanian biozones and thus a long interval of time.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:concretionary,gray lithified silty "shale"
Lithology description: Dark grey silty shale alternating with occasional thin silty-sand layers. The fossils are concentrated in siliceous (carneol?) concretions and silicified lenses.
Environment:prodelta
